The Volunteer-ships/Internships can be tailored around the University/School holidays or working commitments of full time professionals.
“I am doing my best to write about Music Basti without gushing. Truth is, it is a near impossible task. I met six members of Music Basti’s core team, and felt for myself their passion, energy, and commitment to what they are doing. I read articles, wrote articles, read research, saw the firm intellectual base that backs up their work. I sat on the floor with seventy children, clapping along to the strum of the guitar and the rhythms of the djembe, and grinned just as hard as any of them.”
Naomi Miller, Student at University of Oxford, Intern with Music Basti as a part of Study India Programme 2010
Detailed job descriptions will be provided upon receiving the applicants Application Form and CV via email at volunteer@musicbasti.org
WHAT is the Volunteer & Internship Programme?
We could not do our work without the wonderful volunteers who have given their time over the years!
Interns work in our New Delhi office and with the different local organizations and NGOs we partner with, and with our program staff on a less formal basis. They are generally able to offer a shorter amount of time than staff. Volunteers and interns can get involved with the organization in any capacity. Tasks may range from staffing information tables at events, documentation, assisting with the development and distribution of campaign/program materials, or researching and writing reports, direct FUN work as trainers or teachers with communities of at-risk children or ‘street-children’, to enhance and build children’s participation. Some volunteers make short-term agreements with the organization to assist staff, while others volunteer 1-2 hours per week over a longer period of time.
As a part of the Volunteer/Internship Program, interns work closely with program staff on campaigns and programs and are expected to bring some knowledge and experience to the organization.
Those interested in internships should be able to offer 20-40 hours per week, for a minimum period of 2 months.
WHY join the Volunteer or Internship Programme?
Gain work and real-life experience while working for a more equitable world!
